Something to Think About...

Today while reading the Sunday paper I found an interesting advertisement that made my heart skip a beat. Target department stores have created a program designed to promote reading proficiency and as an added incentive will donate a free book to children in need on behalf of every person who officially pledges to take time to read to a child. That's all you have to do! Of course I immediately went to the site and filled out the very short pledge form (you only have to give your first name, email address and zip code - that's it!)
I have included the link over on the right side of the blog in case you feel the urge to make the pledge along with me. Click right under the words "Target Pledge" and the link will appear. Thanks.:)

Building Stamina...

It finally happened today - 20 minutes of perfect Read-To-Self time in 2C! Yippee! I was so proud of the kids - you can practically see with your own two eyes the connections being created and strengthened in their amazing brains! Keep it up, 2C! Community Building at its Best!

Today the 2C students worked in small groups on their community posters. They did an amazing job cooperating with each other - it was really a sight to behold. The groups planned out their little community layouts, added landscaping, roads and parking lots and did it with smiles on their faces and genuine care for each other. I wish real communities could get along as well as our little 2C community did today. Well done! (Click on each pic to enlarge and the back arrow to go back to our blog.)

We Meet at Last...

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our Curriculum meeting tonight. It was so wonderful putting faces to names and to have the opportunity to share the small, intangible details of our little 2C world with you. Often it is the small stuff that has the most impact, don't you think? For those of you who were not able to attend, don't worry - we will manage to connect here and there soon. I am sending home some papers with your children and of course, any questions? You know where to find me.
